Running a business from home sounds simple until you’re living it.
The lines blur quickly. The laptop is always nearby. The phone never really feels off. Work and life sit side by side, sometimes peacefully, sometimes not.
I’ve learned that working from home is about discipline.
For me, it starts before the emails.
I move my body every morning. I work out daily as a non-negotiable for me not just for my physical health, but also for my mental health, and clarity. Before I lead anyone else, I lead myself. Exercise grounds me. It reminds me to pour into myself first before the noise of the day begins.
When you work from home, your mindset becomes your super power. No one is clocking you in or out. No one is watching your effort. You have to choose how you show up in your life daily.
I don’t put too much on my list daily so that I won’t get overwhelmed.
I do the most important daily tasks first that will create for me the future I desire. If something does not get done, I don’t beat myself up for it. I just do it the following day.
In order to stay focused, I don’t respond immediately to messages or calls that are not urgent. Not because I don’t care, but because I care deeply about staying on task and doing things well.
As President of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce Boca Raton, and while leading the 18 co-authors of The Grass Grows Where I Am, I’ve seen how important grounded leadership is. When we created the book, which later became an Amazon bestseller, my intention was never just to publish something. It was to make sure each voice felt honored and seen.
That requires presence. And presence requires awareness and self-boundaries.
Some days feel inspired. Some days feel heavy. Working from home can be very isolating that is why I hired someone to work with me. Pat is an amazing gift in my life. I no longer feel alone doing everything myself.
What steadies me is purpose.
I remind myself why I do this work. I think about the people I serve. I think about the message behind the book, that growth doesn’t happen somewhere else. It happens right where you are.
When your work is rooted in something deeper than recognition, you don’t need applause to continue.
Running a business from home has shown me that leadership is about responsibility.
It’s about how you treat people, how you listen, and how you make space for others to shine.
I lead with love, gratitude, and guidance. I have my eyes on the ball, my big goals this year. I choose to stay super focused to accomplish them in 2026.
I choose to simply show up fully every day and forgive myself if I don’t.
