Achieving Life Balance


Most of us have things in our lives we want to do, as well as those things we have to do. Maybe you want to start an exercise routine and get to the gym more often, or maybe you made a goal to read more books this year, or maybe you wanted to start your own business. But finding the time to fit it in has been challenging. Achieving life balance is really about getting the right mix of career, family time and rest. Like most of us, do you find yourself wishing you had more time to pursue the things you want to do as well as the things you need to do?

There is always enough time to do what you need to get done. The question is not how much time do you have, but how are you using that time?


Make A List of Your Goals

How can you start seeing things more clearly? The first step is to be aware of your priority goals. We all tend to have goals that change regularly and can reflect things going on in our life at the time. You must learn to prioritize and structure the the things that are essential for forward movement. List your goals and then be honest with your self which ones are priority now. Prioritize them from most important to least important. Include not only the career goals you have to achieve, but also the personal goals you want to achieve.


Track Your Time

Although we want more time in the day, but each of us only have 24 hours. And of course we need to use some of these hours for sleep and some of these for work and entertainment purposes. Being accountable for your time can help you be more efficient. For one week, write down your daily schedule and keep a log of the things you must do because they are a commitment. This may include work hours, dr. appointments, going to yoga class, or school sport commitments with the family. When you can see everything, it can help you to be more mindful of the actions you really want to take.

Prioritize Your Personal Goals with Equal Priority as Your Work-Related Goals

Don’t minimize the time available to do the things you want to do, particularly if they are contributing to your life goals or wellbeing. Include family time and other essential life activities that require your time and attention. Consciously take control of your time. Recognize where your efforts are going. Ask your self if it's working for you. You may find that you have been focusing on things in your life that are not working for you right now.

Set an Intention

You must learn that what you want to create cannot happen until you set an intention to make it the most important part of your daily life. Creating balance takes commitment. As you build new habits by setting priorities and eliminating distractions, you shift your life, thereby creating more time to try out new opportunities and elevate your path.


You need to create a real path of growth and transformation with a strong foundation in order to build the life you want. The choices you make today will create the experience you have tomorrow.
